Another Ongoing Obsession – Francisco Infante-Arana & Nonna Gorunova’s Photographs

Francisco Infante-Arana & Nonna Gorunova are Russian artists who’s work shown here stems from the decades of the 70s & 80s. Most of their images are created in nature. Manipulated with mirrors, wires, and other what-nots to achieve the optical illusions of geometric forms carved seamlessly into space. I love the primal, yet futurist qualities of these images. So beautiful and haunting, like a dream where you step into the forest and find a space/time portal waiting for you.

You can find more of their stuff online. They do some crazy images using humans as sculpture. I think the Power Rangers stole their costuming ideas from them. (BTW: that is not said with any disrespect to the artist, the images are crazy amazing, just a keenly accurate observation. For the fans of PR’s you will agree.) You can see those images here.

I found this portrait of the two artist on a Facebook page.

Avante-garde at it’s 80’s best.
